Adsis Foundation in Gipuzkoa awarded the Citizen Merit Medal of Donostia

The city of Donostia has granted the 2024 Citizen Merit Medal to Adsis Foundation. This is one of the municipality's most important recognitions that highlights the support work for young people that the organization has been carrying out for over 35 years in Gipuzkoa.
The award was presented at a solemn ceremony held in the City Council Chamber on Friday, January 19, coinciding with the start of the festivities for the Feast of San Sebastian, the city's patron saint. Donostia's mayor, Eneko Goia, presided over the event, and Isabel Vaquero, director of Adsis Foundation in Gipuzkoa, was responsible for receiving the medal on behalf of the entire foundation team.
In her speech, Isabel highlighted the organization's trajectory in the city and acknowledged the more than 7,500 young people who have passed through the center over all these years, addressing them directly: "Thank you for trusting, for not giving up, for allowing yourselves to be helped, for believing in your possibilities, and making us feel privileged as the people who have accompanied you on this path of maturity and personal growth." She also expressed gratitude and remembrance for Juanmi Altuna, who was the driving force behind this project in Donostia and passed away in 2021.
A recognition from all the people of Donostia
Nominations for the Citizen Merit Medals are open to all citizens of Donostia, who can propose individuals and entities committed to the community. In this instance, 49 proposals were submitted, from which the Board of Spokespersons ultimately selected the five awardees.
This citizen recognition is, therefore, a source of pride for the Adsis Foundation team and for the projects we develop in Gipuzkoa, where we currently support young people facing situations of vulnerability and school dropout, enabling them to have new training opportunities to build their future.
During the event, four other individuals or entities, like Adsis Foundation, were recognized for providing extraordinary services to the city. The other Citizen Merit Medals were awarded to Ángel Rueda Aramaio, ATECE, Bizikletaz adinik ez, and Mentxu Medel, and the Tambor de Oro (Golden Drum) was awarded to Isabel Verdini.
